There are two species in this
genera, D. peruanus and D.
emarginatus. Description:
Duopalatinus is classified under the "Calophysus-Pimelodus
clade". Within this clade, it is considered
a part of the "Pimelodus-group" of Pimelodids,
which also includes Pimelodus, Exallodontus,
Cheirocerus, Iheringichthys, Bergiaria,
Bagropsis, Parapimelodus, Platysilurus,
Platystomatichthys, and Propimelodus.
Habitat: Present in the Orthon
sub-basin (Amazon Basin). Also recorded in the Madre
de Dios and Beni sub-basins (Amazon Basin) (Torrico
et al. 2020). Colouration: Body and
head pale grey, with the dorsal region slightly darker.
Ventral region whitish. Adipose fin pale grey; all
other fins yellowish. Etymology:
The specific name peruanus: Meaning belonging
to Peru.
