Very similar to a species which has been given the C-Number of C139. Lineage: Placed in Lineage 6 which has always been classified as Corydoras (Lacépède, 1803) so a new genus would need to be described and a new type species when a new revision is carried out. As of the latest revision (Dias et al 2024) Corydoras potarensis has now been placed in Lineage 9 and has the new genus name of Hoplisoma and a change to the specific name to potaroense. Aquarium Care: This is akin to most of this genus, very peaceful, and would be best housed with small to medium tank mates such as Tetras, Rasboras and Danios or in a species tank for breeding purposes. Diet: A good quality flake food and tablet food for adults with sporadic feedings of frozen or live food will keep your Corydoras in good health. Etymology: The specific name potaroense: From Potario a river in Guyana. Remarks: This species is still found on some online sources as Corydoras potarensis.
