Information:
Currently treated in some publications,
and FishBase (2009), as Pelteobagrus nitidus.
Was named as Leiocassis nitidus before this.
Etymology: The genus name of Tachysurus:
tachys, swift; oura, tail, referring to the presumed
agility of T. sinensis based on its “long
and nimble” tail (translation). The specific
name of nitidus: neat,
elegant or shining, allusion not explained, perhaps
referring to “reddish body, wine-coloured towards
the back” (translation), (Tachysurus nitidus).
Remarks:
Still found in some online sources as as Pseudobagrus
nitidus.
