Description:
The Pelteobagrus genera have in the past
been distinguished by their forked caudal fins (vs.
truncate/emarginate caudal fins in Pseudobagrusbut mostof
these genera have now been moved to a new family,
Tachysurus (Bogutskaya et al. 2008). Etymology:
The genus name of Tachysurus: tachys, swift;
oura, tail, referring to the presumed agility of T.
sinensis based on its “long and nimble”
tail (translation). The specific name of analis:
Latin for anal, referring to longer anal fin compared
to Leiocassis (=Pelteobagrus) ussuriensis.
Remarks:
Still found in some online sources as Pseudobagrus
analis.
