ABOUT US

Live in a small town on the west coast of Scotland and have been breeding and showing fish seriously since 1981, with catfish, especially Corydoras and Synodontis, being my first love.

I am presently a Judge with the Federation of Scottish Aquarist Societies, so I tend to see quite a few ‘cats’ in the shows. I have been a member of the Greenock & District Aquarist Society since 1983 and also a long standing member of the Northern Area Catfish Group based in Wigan, England, which is now the Catfish Study Group.

When I first started ScotCat I had been online with Compuserve and decided to break away and acquire my own domain at www.scotcat.com (24/09/99) so please update your bookmarks.  I will be updating and adding a monthly factsheet on any given species and also new articles, so please call back to see the new additions.

As of September 1st 2001 I have basically redesigned ScotCat from top to bottom and it is now theoretically Version 2 of the site. I would appreciate any feedback on the new pages.

Version 3 is now here as from April 2004. Please let me know what you think of the new design whether you like it or not!

If you would like me to feature a particular favourite catfish of your liking in my monthly factsheets please let me know and I will do my best to oblige.

I have now added a PayPal account to the site which means that if you find that any of the pages have been useful to you and you feel that you would like to donate money of any denomination, you can by credit or debit card. This will of course go towards the running of ScotCat and hopefully keep it going for a good few years yet. Thanks in advance.

As off January 2005 there is now a forum onboard and I hope you will come along and participate. Update: We have now terminated the forum on the site but you can go to the FB group to ask any questions or try out our Help pages here

As from 2013 we now have a ScotCat group on Facebook which I hope you will join and participate and also get all the updates from there.

We have also added a YouTube channel as of 2015.

As you may have noticed (as of July 2019) we are now redesigning the site to be mobile friendly and some of the pages will be different until they are all updated. This will take a while but I hope to finish this by 2021.
