Habitat: Ernstichthys
live among the cobble substrates of piedmont rivers
gushing out of the Andes Mountains, from Venezuela
to southern Peru. (Lujan, N). Aquarium Care:
Provide fine sand for them, which they use to burry
themselves. Etymology: The genus
name of Ernstichthys:
m eans
“Fish of Ernst”; A. Ernst worked at the
Universidade Central de Venezuela.
The specific name megistus: probably
latinised form of the ancient Greek word megistos,
which means “the greatest”.
